This 2013 Martin D RW is a dealer-commissioned Martin built as a special order for Guitar Center, rather than a standard catalog model. Martin has a long history of working with dealers to commission guitars with specially selected specifications, woods, and appointments, making these dealer-order instruments an interesting part of the company’s modern history.
Built around the classic spruce and rosewood dreadnought combination, this guitar delivers everything you want from a big Martin: strong projection, a deep and authoritative low end, crisp articulation, and the rich overtone content that makes rosewood dreadnoughts so satisfying for both flatpicking and full-chord strumming. The back is a stunningly well book-matched rosewood — pictures don’t do it justice!
More than a decade later, this one has developed into a particularly resonant and responsive instrument. It has the familiar power of a rosewood Martin dreadnought, but with the added appeal of being a less-common dealer-specification guitar rather than another standard-production example.
It remains in very good overall condition with normal signs of use consistent with its age. It has been professionally inspected and set up by Daymaker Music and is ready to play.
