Larrivée’s Single 0 is not simply its version of a Martin 0. It is its own rather unusual little guitar. Where a modern Martin 0-18 uses a 24.9" scale and 14-fret neck joint, the Larrivée has an even shorter 24" scale and joins the body at the 12th fret. Its distinctly truncated lower bout and 13.25" width make it especially compact, while the 12-fret geometry places the bridge farther into the active area of the soundboard.
The result is a guitar that feels very small and easy in the hands, but does not behave like a travel guitar. It has surprising projection and authority for its size, with a quick, articulate response, focused midrange, clear highs, and more low-end presence than you might expect from such a compact body. The short scale gives it a particularly supple feel under the left hand, while the 1 3/4" nut and generous string spacing make it exceptionally inviting for fingerstyle playing.
It is one of those small guitars that punches considerably above its weight.
